At least 9 out of 10 signed items on eBay are fake.
In April 2000 the FBI’s Operation Bullpen reported that most industry experts concede that over half of the autographed memorabilia is forged
, and that experts believed up to 90% of the memorabilia on the market was forged.
And that was in 2000. In 2026 it’s worse. AI-made copies, autopens and hard times have flooded the market, and 95% of signed items sold on eBay are fake.*
That’s why we exist. Every item we certify is examined, photographed and entered in this public register, so you can check it in seconds.

Three things to check before you rely on a certificate
1Find the number
It's printed at the top of your certificate, six digits or more.
2Look it up here
Every certificate we've issued, including those from A-List Autographs, is in this register with the photos taken during the examination.
3Compare the item
Check the signature's position, the ink and the item itself against our photos. If anything differs, tell us.
Formerly A-List Autographs. Every certificate is still valid.
We're a family business. Our founder began authenticating autographs in 1996 and ran A-List Autographs in the UK for more than twenty years.
After Brexit we moved to Spain. Today his son, Kevin Rose, leads authentication with him, and Kevin's name is on every Veritado certificate. We're now the largest authenticator in Spain, working mainly with high-volume sellers across the EU and authenticating thousands of items every month.
Every certificate issued by A-List Autographs is in this register and stays valid. Our old website, alistautographs.co.uk, now redirects here.
